| | | An American Love Story in Paris | | |
It started out with me as a woman, recounting the story as to why I hated this man. I was in a wheelchair. He was the reason, somehow. I must have been telling the story to some French people, because that's where I had ended up. As I told the story, I began reliving the experience.
I was on an airplane. I don't know what my true destination was. This man I'd been talking about somehow sabotaged the plane. While I was in the bathroom, a hole blew out beneath me. I got sucked out the hole and on the way, injured my ankle pretty badly. I fell through the sky. For some reason I tucked myself tight the way they tell you to in the navy - holding your nose, crossing your legs, covering your crotch.
"How did you survive the impact with the ground?" my French friend asked.
"How did I survive?"
Mentally, I saw myself crouched as I'd described when I began to vaguely feel hitting a canopy of trees. I remember experiencing a kind of impact with the ground and seeing that flash of light one experiences when one sneezes despite one's eyes being closed. I opened my eyes to see many people standing around me, whispering in French.
Later, I am working in this French firm. I don't know what my job is, but the male I was talking about earlier is also here. His foot, strangely, is also injured, though not as badly - he is not in a wheelchair.
In the subsequent moments, my dream consciousness is transferred from the woman to the man.
I start experiencing things from his p.o.v. I want desperately to prove that I hadn't meant to hurt the woman. Strangely, I also want to prove my worth to the French. I work hard at this place where we are. I don't know why both me and the woman have decided to work here, why we just didn't go home to America (I sense that we are indeed Americans).
Either way, most of the rest of the dream is lost to me. I'm surprised I remembered this much. All else I can say was that this dream was very cinematic and structured like a film. I got the sense of a somewhat cheesy Hollywood plot unravelling. I was awoken abruptly this morning, so who knows where it might have gone?
